Car Rental Mileage in Egypt: What to Check Before Booking
هذا الدليل متاح بالإنجليزية.
To plan rental-car mileage in Egypt, estimate the distance for your whole trip, add room for local journeys and detours, then compare that total with the allowance in your confirmed offer. Ask whether kilometres are counted per day or across the rental and what each extra kilometre costs. El Fahd's FAQ confirms that the team provides the included kilometres and extra-kilometre charge for the specific vehicle before booking; do not assume a universal allowance.
How do you estimate the kilometres you need?
Start with the journeys you expect to make, including the drive after pickup and the return to the agreed handover point. Count return legs as well as outward journeys. A hotel-to-meeting trip that happens several times needs to appear several times in your estimate.
1. Write down the main journeys and how often you will make each one.
2. Use a current route planner for the actual addresses, rather than a distance between city centres.
3. Add local driving, planned stops and a reasonable allowance for changes to the route.
4. Tell the team if the trip includes travel between cities or a route that may change.
Your route estimate is planning information, not a guarantee of the final odometer reading. Keep the route and the estimated total together so the team can assess the actual trip you describe.
Is the allowance daily or for the whole rental?
A figure such as “200 km” is incomplete without its period. Ask whether it means each rental day, the entire agreement or another defined period. If it is a daily allowance, confirm whether unused kilometres carry over within the rental or each day is assessed separately.
For a clear comparison, request the total included kilometres for your exact pickup and return dates. Also ask how changing the return time or extending the rental would affect that total. An extra calendar date does not, by itself, establish another day of mileage allowance.
How can you compare an allowance with your trip?
Use this simple calculation once the terms are confirmed: estimated trip kilometres minus total included kilometres equals possible extra kilometres. If the result is below zero, there is no estimated overage under that calculation. Any charge still follows the actual agreement and recorded usage.
For illustration only, suppose a trip is estimated at 850 km and a hypothetical offer includes 700 km for the full rental. The estimated difference is 150 km. Multiply that difference by the confirmed extra-kilometre rate, then ask how that charge is included in the final total. These figures are not El Fahd's allowance, tariff or an estimate for a particular route.
If the agreement assesses each day separately, compare each day's expected distance with its allowance instead. Do not use a whole-trip calculation until the team confirms that kilometres can be combined across days.
What should you record at pickup and return?
As a practical handover checklist, review the odometer reading with the team at pickup and return, and retain the agreed record. Ask how any difference will be calculated and who to contact if your route changes. An odometer reading is the vehicle's cumulative distance, so the difference between the two readings is the distance covered during the rental.
Keep mileage and fuel separate. Under El Fahd's rental terms, fuel is the renter's responsibility and the car returns at the fuel level it had at pickup. Included kilometres do not mean included fuel. Confirm the recorded fuel level as part of handover too.
Which questions should go in your request?
1. What is the total kilometre allowance for these dates and this vehicle?
2. Are kilometres assessed per day or across the entire rental, and can unused kilometres carry over?
3. What is the extra-kilometre rate, and how will any charge appear in the total?
4. Does my planned route require any separate approval or terms?
5. How would an extension or a different return time affect the allowance?
Send the questions with your dates, proposed vehicle, pickup and return points, and estimated distance through the El Fahd contact page. You can explore the fleet first. A request helps the team review the trip; the booking is confirmed only after the team approves the dates and car.
Quick answers about rental mileage
Does a monthly rental automatically include unlimited kilometres?
Do not assume that it does. Request the allowance and extra-kilometre terms for the particular monthly offer. A longer duration alone does not establish unlimited use.
Is mileage the same as rental duration?
No. Duration describes how long you have the car; mileage describes how far it travels. Confirm both, along with the return time, before comparing offers.
What if my plans change after pickup?
Contact the team before relying on a changed arrangement. Ask for confirmation of the revised mileage terms and any cost. For extra rental time, see the rental-extension guide.
